Celebrate the beauty of autumn through the art of Ikebana, the Japanese practice of flower arrangement. In this hands-on workshop, we will create seasonal arrangements inspired by the colors, textures, and spirit of the fall season.
The workshop will take place at the Albuquerque Foundation, located in Sintra, Portugal. This museum houses one of the largest private collections of Chinese porcelain, including pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The space is beautiful and tranquil, providing a perfect setting for creativity and reflection.
During the workshop, participants will discover the meditative side of Ikebana and learn how to harmonize all the elements and practice combining them thoughtfully in autumn-inspired arrangements. As Sofu Teshigahara, the founder of the Sogetsu School, said: Ikebana can be created from any materials, anywhere, by anyone – everyone can have a unique and rewarding experience.
After the workshop, all participants will be able to take home the plants they use, and they will also receive a photograph of their work, taken on film, via email. All necessary materials will be provided.
My mission as an Ikebana teacher is to help everyone see beauty in ordinary things and notice it in everyday life through deep contact with themselves and genuine presence in reality. This workshop aims to awaken your senses and connect your mind with the present moment.
